The Coca-Cola Co’s Great Britain unit has secured a two-year deal to become the next official sponsor of the London Eye.

In an announcement today, the company said from January it will have full naming rights on the Ferris wheel attraction after an agreement with operator Merlin Entertainments. Financial details of the tie-up were not disclosed.

Coca-Cola will be taking over from energy firm EDF as sponsor of the attraction.

Jon Woods, GM of Coca-Cola UK & Ireland, said: “We are delighted to have secured the sponsorship of the London Eye, an iconic London landmark known around the world.”

The London Eye is turning red today to mark the deal, Coca-Cola said.

Earlier this month, Coca-Cola revealed details of a new UK marketing to back the launch of its stevia-sweetened brand Coca-Cola Life
