However, the company denied that the job cuts had anything to do with the accounting discrepancy which came to light last month, revealing some £3.8m in previously unidentified promotional costs. The revelation led to a dramatic fall in the company’s share price and the departure of both the chief executive and finance director.
UK: Bulmers to cut 80 jobs
Amid the turmoil that has recently engulfed the company, the beleaguered UK cider group, HP Bulmer, has announced it is to cut 80 jobs across all areas of the business. The company said the redundancies would take place during the coming three months and would mainly come from non-production areas of the business.
