The Philippines Securities and Exchange Commission has granted approval for the spirits group, La Tondena Distillers Inc., to change its name to Ginebra San Miguel Inc.
La Tondena, the leading spirits producer in the Philippines, announced in March that it planned to change its name to Ginebra San Miguel Inc. in order better to reflect its core business. The company is part of the San Miguel food and drinks corporation, while Ginebra San Miguel is the name of its flagship brand.
“The change aligning the corporate name with the company’s flagship brand, Ginebra San Miguel, is expected to further strengthen and reinforce the product’s brand equity,” the company said. “It likewise highlights the company strategy of focusing on its core business which is liquor.”
