Bridging the divide between the predominantly white owned wine farming community and emerging black hospitality industry operators was a major step taken in a course created to promote new avenues for the Cape’s most popular product.

Wines of South Africa (WOSA), which normally looks at external generic promotion, together with the Cape Wine Academy created a course specifically designed for the black hospitality industry.

It sponsored the first group of 15 operators, who yesterday graduated at the end of the two-month course.

Su Birch, CEO of WOSA said the course was intended as a vehicle to promote Cape wine tourism, while providing operators with the necessary skills to offer tourists an informed and entertaining experience, while improving and expanding their businesses.
