The lower house of the Russian parliament, the Duma, has passed a revised law restricting the sale and consumption of beer. A previous version was vetoed by President Putin last year.

The new law will continue to allow people to drink beer on the streets but bans the sale of beer and beer-based beverages in sports facilities.

The bill also bans minors from drinking beer or beer-based drinks in public areas.

Adults will also be banned from drinking beer in public food outlets where beer sales are banned by the local authorities.
