Retail volume sales of alcohol were up 2.2% in Russia in the first quarter of the eyar, over the same period last year, according to the National Alcoholic Association.
Volumes of vodka were up 3.3% to 50.8m decalitres in the period. Meanwhile, wine volumes in the retail sector jumped 5% to 14.7m decalitres. Cognac was up by 5.5% to 1.3m decalitres, while Champagne and sparkling wine volumes grew 6.9% to 4.2m decalitres.
However as has been reported in sales figures of the leading beer group BBH recently beer volumes have fallen. According to National Alcoholic Association figures, the market fell 3.2% to 142.9m decalitres.
