The 17-year-old Bourbon was initially aged in a stone warehouse before returning to Wild Turkey's wooden warehouses. It is the oldest whiskey to be released in the US by the brand.

Eddie Russell said: "The sweet spot for Bourbon ageing is usually between 8-12 years because older Bourbons tend to become too woody or spicy from sitting too long in the barrel. What I was able to do with Master’s Keep was retain the Bourbon’s rich caramel and vanilla flavours by ageing the barrels in both stone and wood warehouses, sampling from them every few months to decide their next move."

The limited edition whiskey will be available nationally.

In first-half results released this week, Wild Turkey's sales jumped by 8.2% in the US. The brand has been boosted by a number of new expressions, including Wild Turkey American Honey Sting, released last year.
