The IVV said that the northern Portuguese regions of Minho, Dao and Tras-os-Montes would register the sharpest falls. Production in the Minho region is expected to drop by 30% to 40% while the Dao region will see production fall by 27% to 30%. Production in the Tras-os-Montes region will be 14% to 22% down. The IVV added that while production levels are lower than last year, wine quality will be higher because of higher rainfall.
