By GlobalDataThe New Jersey company said its namesake gin is the first of its kind and uses a combination of “specialised distilling” and Latin American ingredients to create the spiced flavour. The launch aims to take gin out of the summer cocktail occasion and make the category more versatile.
“Mexigin is reimagining what gin is and how patrons can enjoy gin with our spicy dark blend,” said Mexigin owner Corinne Delaney. “Mexigin can easily replace traditional gin, as well as Bourbon, rum, Tequila, and more in classic cocktails, giving those drinks a spicy kick while heightening the taste and exposing gin to new markets.”
As the gin category develops, distillers are launching a number of new innovations. Last month, Beam Suntory released a strawberry-flavoured Sipsmith in the UK ahead of the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Championship. Also last month, Finnish distiller Arctic Blue Beverages Oy launched a gin-based oat liqueur called Arctic Blue Oat.
