Grupo Modelo’s CEO has reportedly said that he is not interested in selling the remainder of the Mexican brewer to Anheuser-Busch InBev.

Modelo’s controlling families have “no desire to sell”, Carlos Fernandez was quoted as saying by Mexican daily newspaper Milenio yesterday (4 October).

Anheuser-Busch InBev recently won an arbitration case to claim a 50% non-controlling stake in Modelo, previously held by the independent Anheuser-Busch. Its victory has intensified speculation that A-B InBev would seek to gain full control of Modelo, which is Mexico’s largest brewer and is most famous for the Corona beer brand.
