Sales of Coca-Cola de Mexico were up 14% in the first quarter of this year on the same period last year, according to a company press release picked up by the local press.
The increase in Mexico was attributed to the achieving of higher market share and the sale in non-carbonated brands, including bottled water. The company said it had taken advantage of the growing market for water by launching a national ad campaign for its Ciel brand.
The subsidiary of beverage giant Coca-Cola Company did not reveal total sales figures. However it said that a sales increase across Latin America was mostly the result of “significant growth in Mexico, which served to counteract the difficult economic situation in Venezuela.”
