Embotelladoras Arca, Mexico’s number two Coke bottler has joined forces with the local affiliate of Amcor PET Packaging to supply all its disposable plastic bottles.
Arca said yesterday that it will sell its PET bottle injection and blowing assets to Amcor PET Packaging de Mexico for more than $40m. The amount is to be paid over the life of the eight-year contract.
Arca said Amcor will supply non-returnable bottles in all of its territories which are concentrated in the north of Mexico. The move is expected to save money on both production and distribution of PET (polyethylene terephthalate) containers. Both companies intend to develop bottle recycling projects in the near future.
