Scotch whisky distiller Loch Lomond Group has appointed a new Global Travel Retail head.

Catherine Bonelli takes over at Loch Lomond from Andre de Almeida, who recently joined Edinburgh’s Secret Garden Distillery as managing director. Bonelli previously worked in duty free with Italian fashion houses Paul & Shark and Lacoste.

Loch Lomond CEO Colin Matthews said: “It is with great pleasure that we welcome Catherine as MD of GTR. With vast experience and knowledge of the sector, we are confident that she will make a very positive impact on our GTR offering across the world.”

Previous GTR head de Almeida was announced last week as the new MD for Secret Garden, a Scottish gin distiller formerly known as The Old Curiosity Distillery. De Almeida is a former director for William Grant & Sons’ European GTR operations, who joined Loch Lomond in 2016.

During de Almeida’s time, Loch Lomond launched a number of GTR ranges including a limited-edition Scotch whisky from the shuttered Littlemill distillery.
