Wege will succeed Frank Schübel, who has held the position for nine years and is retiring.
In a statement, Teekanne said the 61-year-old Schübel had “led the company over the past nine years to become one of the fastest-growing tea brands worldwide”. It did not provide figures.
Wege, who heads Lavazza’s business in Germany, Austria Switzerland and Poland, joined the coffee major seven years ago from Red Bull. She spent more than 14 years at Red Bull in two stints. Her career also includes roles at Danone and the former Kraft Foods.
In a statement, the family-owned Teekanne said Wege would form a “newly created top management team” alongside Christian Mestwerdt, who is the company’s CFO and COO. He joined Teekanne last year after nine years at personal-care group Dr. Wolff.
