Japanese soft drinks group, Ito En, has posted a net profit of Y8 billion (US$67.9m/€58m) for the year to the end of April 2003, representing a 19% increase from the previous year.
Ito En’s recurring profit rose by 3% to Y14.8 billion (US$125.6m/€107.4m), while operating profit was 4% higher at Y15.6 billion (US$132.4m/€113.2m). Sales revenues rose by 5% to Y214.8 billion (US$1.824 billion/€1.559 billion).
Operating profit from soft drinks fell by 2% but operating profit from green-tea products rose by 9% with the company attributing the rise to cost-cutting measures.
