Leading Japanese brewer, Asahi Breweries, has announced that it is to increase retail prices of happoshu low-malt beer from May 1. The suggested retail prices for 350ml cans of happoshu will go up by Y10 and the price of 500ml cans will rise by Y16.
The price rises coincide with a tax increase on happoshu due to come in in May. Kirin has also raised its happoshu prices.
