Campania, the region in the south of Italy, is to develop its wine tourism industry with a grant of €100m (US$113.6m).


According to Italian press reports, funds will be raised over between 2004 and 2006. Money will be spent on building accommodation for tourists in the wine producing areas of the region, in the promotion of wine holidays and to subsidise wine producers and train staff.


The regional councillor for tourism, Teresa Armato said wine tourism will contribute to the social and economic development of the region.
