The Trinidad and Tobago-based group has not elaborated on its decision but Cooley chairman, John Teeling, was reported as saying that while the deal appeared to be off for now, negotiations could be resumed at a later stage. Teeling added that the collapse of the talks was not a cause of concern and that Cooley was profitable and cash flow positive.

The Caribbean rum and bitters producer, Angostura Holdings, has reportedly pulled out of takeover talks with the Irish whiskey company, Cooley Distillery.
