Coca-Cola India has reported a full-year net profit for the first time since it began operations, a report in the country’s Economic Times said today.
The local unit of Coca-Cola Co posted net profit of INR1.5 billion and sales of INR50 billion in calendar year 2002, says the report, quoting unnamed sources.
Coca-Cola India Vice President Sunil Gupta was quoted saying affordable pricing had helped deliver the results, as well as the introduction of 200-ml bottles. A series of cost cutting measures also helped to ensure efficient distribution.
The report did note, however that Coca-Cola India started on a clean slate two years ago, after writing off an accumulated loss of INR20.68 billion.
