According to reports in India, at least 18 people died after consuming bootleg liquor in the Indian state of Punjab. The victims, thought to be labourers mainly aged between 30 and 40, were reported to have bought the contaminated liquor from a shop in Patiala city.
Three people have been detained by the police for questioning but the shop owner was reported to have fled.
