The US division of Heineken is to hand out six-foot-long coolers to Dos Equis consumers in a marketing activation designed to highlight social distancing guidelines.

The coolers, which are the same length as the closest distance the US Government has said people can stand next to each other in public, will be given away as part of activation for Mexican brand Dos Equis. The 'Seis-Foot Cooler' will be available in the US from Friday while supplies last, Heineken said today.

"There's a responsible way to drink responsibly throughout the summer," said Edith Llerena, senior brand manager for Dos Equis at Heineken USA. "Just sit on opposite ends of the cooler to keep a safe distance apart."

Beverage companies have shelved most of their marketing plans for this year focusing efforts instead on activity targeting consumers in lockdown. Earlier this week, Beavertown, the London brewer part-owned by Heineken, said it will live-stream scenes from an English farm in a campaign that aims to replace cancelled UK music festivals.
