The Former East German sparkling wine company, Sektkellerei Rotkaeppchen GmbH, has acquired rival sparkling wine company, Geldermann, a privately owned company based in Baden-Wurttemberg, for an undisclosed sum.

Rotkaeppchen is looking to expand its market share from its current level of 27%. In 2001, the company acquired the production facilities operated by Mumm, Jules Mumm and MM in the central German region of Hesse. Sparkling wine production at Rotkaeppchen-Mumm reached 51m bottles in 2002.
