The European arm of Constellation Brands has lined up the introduction of South African wine brand Kumala to the German market.
Constellation Europe confirmed today (19 January) that it has appointed Wein Wolf to distribute Kumala across the German off-trade. The agreement takes immediate effect, and marks Kumala’s entry into the competitive wine market in Germany.
We are looking forward to making use of the positive image of South Africa arising from the staging of the soccer world championship to achieve sustained success for Kumala in Germany,” said a spokesperson for Wein Wolf.
Paul Koks, Constellation Europe’s senior vice president for mainland Europe, added: “Their (Wein Wolf’s) expertise and knowledge of the sector is invaluable to us as we continue to grow our presence across the off-trade.”
In late-2007, Constellation acquired South African wine firm Flagstone, retaining Flagstone’s winemaker, Bruce Jack, to supervise all of its viticulture and winemaking in South Africa, including Kumala.
