The French Champagne group, Vranken Pommery Monopole, has posted a net loss for the first half of the current fiscal year of €0.1m, down from the loss of €3.1m it recorded in the corresponding period last year.
The company said profitability was enhanced by additional income from the Pommery Champagne brand which it acquired from LVMH last year. However, Vranken said sales were adversely affected by the weaker US dollar and Japanese yen.
Sales in the nine-month period to the end of September were up by 18% from €93.5m to €110.4m, the company said.
