The French drinks group, Pernod Ricard, has sold its Calvados producer, Distillerie Busnel, to the French spirits company, La Martiniquaise.

The disposal forms part of Pernod Ricard’s plans to focus on priority brands and markets following its acquisition of the Seagram business.

La Martiniquaise now plans to consolidate its Calvados operations. The deal makes the company the largest producer of the Normandy apple brandy. Distillerie Busnel sold 1.45 million litres of Calvados in 2002 and registered a turnover of €7m.
