Louis Latour, one of the major Cote d’Or traders and founded in 1797, has announced the acquisition of Chablis-based Simonnet-Febvre & Fils.
In a statement, Louis Latour said Simonnet-Febvre would retain its identity in both domestic and export markets with Laurent Simonet continuing to direct affairs from Chablis. The firm will benefit from Latour’s wider export and distribution network, the statement added.
Set up in 1840 and with an annual turnover of €1.52m, Simonnet-Febvre will offer Latour an estate of around four hectares of vineyards which produces a broad range of Chablis wines.
Simonnet-Febvre will also offer a range white, red and sparkling wines in the Yonne area.
Latour has an annual turnover of €40m, 90% of which is generated by exports.
Simonnet-Febvre is the trader’s first acquisition.
