Carlsberg-owned Kronenbourg is recruiting 45 additional staff at at its brewery in Obernai in eastern France as it looks to increase exports.
It is only two years since Kronenbourg launched a redundancy programme for 200 staff. A senior official for the company told just-drinks today (2 December) that Kronenbourg needs the extra production workers as a result of an increase in export volumes at the Obernai plant.
“18 workers have already joined the company and we expect to complete the recruitment drive early next year in time for the peak production season in March and April,” said the official. One of the main factors in Kronenbourg’s export growth was strong demand in some Arab countries for alcohol-free beers, the official said.
The Obernai plant already employs 500 workers and by the end of 2012, it numbers will have swelled to around 700 with the transfer of 145 support services staff from Kronenbourg’s HQ 20 kilometres away in Strasbourg.
