The French insurance group AXA has extended its wine interests with the acquisition by its subsidiary AXA Millesimes of a vineyard in the Languedoc.

AXA Millesimes managing director Christian Seely said: “We spent over two years looking for the right site in this dynamic and exciting region, and we are delighted to be able to announce that we have this week finalised the purchase of Chateau Belles Eaux in the Coteaux du Languedoc.”

He continued: “We saw an opportunity to create a unique property her by joining the two vineyards of Chateau St Helene and Chateau Belles Eaux.”

The company intends to produce premium quality single vineyard wines, based principally on a Syrah, Grenache and Mourvedre blend.

The vineyard joins a list of wine businesses owned by AXA, which include, Chateau Pichon Longuevill and Pibran in Pauillac, Chateau Cantenac in Margaux and Quinta do Noval in the Douro.
