The European Commission has yet to decide what to do about a probe into the conduct of the soft drink giant Coca-Cola in relation to a possible abuse of its leading market position.
A report in the UK’s Financial Times earlier today suggested the EC was close to sending Coke a “statement of objections” which could ultimately lead to a fine.
But Commission spokeswoman Amelia Torres said today: “Everybody knows that we have an investigation concerning Coca-Cola and Coca-Cola’s commercial practices in Europe.”
“However we haven’t yet come to a preliminary conclusion as to whether we should send a second objection and certainly we haven’t decided whether that would be done in September or October as is mentioned in the article.”
