Duvel Moortgat has acquired a craft beer in the US to join its Firestone Walker Brewing Co division.
Announced by the Belgian company earlier this month, Firestone Walker will take on the production and distribution of Cali-Squeeze, which was previously owned by California-based SLO Brewing Co. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
The transaction is expected to finalise in July.
“Cali-Squeeze presents a unique beer style for us to explore through what we like to call ‘Fruits with Benefits’,” said Firestone Walker’s co-founder, David Walker. “As a traditional hop-forward craft brewer, we have watched these styles evolve and we see Cali-Squeeze as the beer to help with that discovery.”
According to the Brewer’s Association’s ‘Top 50 US Brewers 2020’ list, Duvel Moortgat dropped one place to 13th from its position last year.
