London-listed spirits major Diageo has adjusted some of its sustainability targets, as the group says it looks “to build climate resilience”.
In a statement yesterday, alongside the release of its 2025 annual report, the group confirmed it now looked to reduce scope 1 and 2 emissions by 50% by 2030 and reach net-zero in direct operations by 2040.
As part of its sustainability goals, the company is also looking to reduce scope 3 emissions by 26% by 2030, and hopes to achieve net zero across scopes 1, 2 and 3 by 2050.
According to last year’s annual report, the Johnnie Walker distiller previously looked to achieve net zero for scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030 and cut scope 3 emissions by 50%, from a 2020 baseline, by the same year.
Diageo also announced yesterday it would be increasing the percentage of recycled content in its packaging to 50% by 2030. It had previously aimed to increase this percentage to 60% by 2030.
It has also now scrapped its prior goal of reducing packaging weight by 10%.
