Carlsberg is under investigation from the Danish Competition Authority, according to Danish newspaper reports. The antitrust body is probing claims made by Carlsberg’s competitors that the brewer has exclusive deals with bars and restaurants in the country.
Daily newspaper Berlingske Tidende quoted a member of the Competition Authority as saying: “We have asked Carlsberg to report which exclusive deals it has with bars and restaurants. It is illegal to give customers extra discounts and make exclusive deals to keep others out.”
Carlsberg has a market share of over 70% in Denmark.
