Mineral water output in the Czech Republic rose by 7.8% in 2002 to 761m litres according to figures released by the Association of Mineral Waters. The figure was three times higher than that recorded in 1994. The association is forecasting 5% growth for 2003.
In 2002, flavoured mineral waters represented 57% of the market, while standard non-flavoured waters accounted for 42%. Curative waters accounted for the remaining 1%. According to the association, PET packaging represents 86% of sales, while imported mineral waters account for 8.7% of the domestic market.
The principal producers of mineral water in the Czech Republic are Karlovarske Mineralni Vody, Hanacka Kyselka, Podebradka and Karlovarska Korunni Kyselka.
