The Xuhui district court in Shanghai has agreed to hear the lawsuit filed by representatives of the basketball star, Yao Ming, against Coca-Cola, according to a report in the South China Post.
The lawsuit relates to the use of Yao Ming’s image on bottles of Coca-Cola in a promotion in the Shanghai area. Coke believes it was entitled to use the image under the terms of a contract it has with the Chinese national basketball team, of which Yao is a member. However, Yao has a personal sponsorship contract with PepsiCo.
