The drinks distribution group Maxxium Worldwide has appointed Iain Abercrombie as its president of Maxxium Canada in succession to Darryl Weinbren.

Abercrombie is currently managing director of Maxxium New Zealand. But he will relocate to Toronto and will assume his new responsibilities as President on July 1, 2003.

Weinbren, one of the founders of Maxxium Canada, is stepping down after 26 years in the business. He will stay on as non-Executive Chairman during the handover period.

Richard White, executive director of Maxxium Worldwide said: “Darryl’s contribution to the development of our business in Canada has been consistently outstanding. We wish him well in his retirement. I have every confidence that he has a worthy successor in Iain Abercrombie.”

Maxxium is the joint venture distribution group of alcohol producers Highland Distillers, Vin & Sprit, Jim Beam Brands and Remy Cointreau.
