The Bulgarian brewer, Zagorka, posted a net profit for 2002 of BL4.6m (US$2.73m/€2.37m), up 16% from 2001.
Zagorka, based in Stara Zagora in central Bulgaria, also reported gross revenues for 2002 of BL84.8m (US$50.2m/€43.6m), up 7% from last year. Sales in volume terms rose by 2.3% to 1.029m hectolitres.
Zagorka is majority-owned by Brewinvest, a joint venture between the Greek drinks group, Hellenic Bottling, and the Dutch brewing combine, Heineken.
Combined with its other Bulgarian brewer, Ariana, Brewinvest controls around 26% of the Bulgarian beer market.
