The product is a blend of Teeling Small Batch Whiskey with ginger, lime and yuzu.
Ruth Dunne, the marketing manager at Teeling said the launch reflected demand for convenience in drinks consumption.
“Today’s consumers desire and expect convenience without sacrificing taste,” Dunne said.
“The logical thing for us was to take this approach to innovation and expand into a ready-to-drink format – making Teeling whiskey convenient and accessible for Irish whiskey drinkers to enjoy, no matter the occasion.”
The launch was announced as the Irish whiskey group extends its partnership with the college football game series Aer Lingus College Football Classic through 2028.
Phoenix Twist RTD will debut on 29 August at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin, the Teeling Distillery and at other game-day events, before a wider rollout in selected retailers and off-licences in Ireland, according to the statement.
Dunne told Just Drinks the product will retail at €4.50 ($5.25) per can, and is “crafted and canned in Ireland”.
“We’ve received great feedback, and look forward to expanding it into national retail in 2027,” she added.
Asked about international expansion, Dunne said: “While we’re currently focused on Ireland for the launch of the Phoenix Twist, we’re always looking at how to meet different consumers’ tastes and occasions in markets worldwide.”
In June, Bacardi moved to acquire full ownership of Teeling, which was founded in 2012 and exports to more than 80 markets.
The spirits group first bought a minority stake in the Irish whiskey distiller in 2017 and increased its holding to majority ownership in 2022.
Mahesh Madhavan, the CEO of Bacardi, said in June: “There is so much long-term potential for the Irish whiskey category globally and with Teeling we are perfectly positioned to take advantage of every opportunity
Brothers Jack and Stephen Teeling, the founders of Teeling, “will remain a part of the brand, shaping its future and driving growth for the long term as strategic advisors”, Bacardi added at the time.
