According to data released by the Austrian Mineral Water Forum, average per capital mineral water consumption in Austria rose by 6% in 2002 from 85 litres to 90 litres.
Friedrich Scheubrein of the Austrian Mineral Water Forum said 2002 consumption was 15 times higher than in 1970. Austria’s mineral water industry expects per capita consumption to break the 100 litre mark in 2003.
