Award winning Queensland winery, Gowrie Mountain has exported its first shipment of canned wine. The product – specifically designed for export – arrives in the UK later this month.
Winery owner Ron Newbury said: “There’s no oxidisation, no corkage waste and most people don’t want a whole 750ml bottle of wine anyway when they go out to dinner.”
The company has spent two years developing the can lining so that it does not taint the taste of the wine.
Aimed at the 18-30 age group, the 250ml tins of shiraz cabernet, chardonnay and a sweet white will later be shipped to the US and Japan.
