There are few certainties in life, but by persistent questioning over the last
couple of years I have managed to uncover one. It is this. The first choice
of every wine drinker under the age of 40 in the UK is New World wine, and usually
Australian wine. Since I’m interested in these things, I always ask. Apart from
those with wine-trade connections, that is always the answer. I can recall,
truly, no exceptions.
