There is an air of confidence sweeping across Speyside. No where more so than Campbell Distillers, home of Clan Campbell and Aberlour, and Pernod Ricard’s highland retreat. Campbell could soon become the second largest Scotch producer in the industry, if the French parent company’s strategic hopes are achieved through the Seagram acquisition. Pierre Pringuet’s (Pernod Ricard’s new joint managing director) comment on Friday that the Diageo dream ticket is a “balanced partnership” is reliant on the amicable divestment of the Scotch whisky portfolio – for personal and political reasons.
