On Wednesday, Britvic will report its full-year results. Here, just-drinks takes a look at the company’s performance over the fiscal year to 28 September:
- Back in January, Britvic launched a major new campaign for Purdy’s featuring new brand ambassador Idris Elba. The Hollywood star got on board with a refresh for the energy drink, signing up for a series of short films, backed by an outdoor campaign and digital support
- In March, analysts predicted that the just-announced UK sugar tax would have a negative impact on profits at Britvic for one year following its introduction
- In April, Britvic reduced the sugar content of its Drench juice drink, dropping the brand it to the middle band of the UK’s three-tiered health warning system
- In June, the company launched an “incubator” company, Wisehead Productions, to develop soft drinks for adult consumers that don’t want to drink alcohol. Wisehead’s first product was Thomas & Evans No. 1, a “zero-proof” drink that blends 20 ingredients including citrus peel and green fruits
- In June, analysts said Brexit would be a downside for Britvic because of the currency swings caused by the UK’s EU referendum result.
