A recently granted patent (Publication Number: US11925090B2) discloses an organic light emitting diode (OLED) display panel with a unique color filter layer design. The panel includes an array layer, an organic light emitting layer with at least one light emitting unit, and a color filter layer with a photoresist structure and color resist units. The photoresist structure consists of a first defining layer with a first color resist defining area and a second defining layer with a larger second color resist defining area, both having the same shape and being concentric. The color resist unit is positioned between these areas and corresponds to the light emitting unit.

Furthermore, the patent details the materials used in the first and second defining layers, which can comprise black matrix (BM) material or a combination of BM material in the first layer and an overcoat (OC) material in the second layer. The design allows for precise control over the exposure of the materials during the manufacturing process, ensuring optimal performance of the OLED display panel. The patent also covers the formation of the defining layers through a halftone process using one mask, providing a cost-effective and efficient production method for these advanced display panels. Overall, this patented technology aims to enhance the color accuracy and efficiency of OLED display panels, offering a promising solution for future display devices.
