A recently filed patent (Publication Number: US20230313443A1) describes a hand-held steam iron with several innovative features. The iron includes a housing with a handle portion for easy manipulation and a water reservoir that can be filled from outside the housing. The water reservoir is connected to a pump that delivers water to a steam generating chamber when a trigger is activated. The soleplate assembly, which is connected to the housing, consists of an inner soleplate and a cover. The inner soleplate has a steam generation surface and a heating element below it, which is connected to a power circuit for heating the soleplate. The cover encloses the steam generation surface, creating the steam generating chamber. The inner soleplate is shaped with a pointed tip front portion and a rear base portion, and the heating element extends along the rear base portion.

In addition to the above features, the soleplate assembly also includes an outer soleplate spaced from the inner soleplate. The inner soleplate has openings that allow steam to travel from the steam generating chamber to a steam delivery chamber formed between the inner and outer soleplates. The outer soleplate has steam delivery openings for discharging steam when the trigger is activated.

The heating element is shaped along the inner soleplate, heating it from one power connection point to a second power connection point near the tip front portion. An intermediate portion of the heating element extends from the first power connection point toward the rear base portion, then back toward the tip front portion, and finally to the second power connection point. This arrangement creates a central hot zone on the steam generation surface, positioned below the water outlet.

The steam generation surface also includes plural guide elements that extend from the surface to the cover, defining at least one steam flow path from the central hot zone. These flow paths cross the heating element at various points, including between the hot zone and the tip front portion and along the portion of the heating element that extends along the rear base portion.

Overall, this hand-held steam iron patent introduces several unique features that enhance its performance and efficiency. The design allows for effective steam generation and delivery, ensuring optimal ironing results.
