Anheuser-Busch InBev is a producer, distributor, and marketer of beer, alcoholic beverages, and soft drinks recognized for Business Expansion, Environmental, Innovation, Marketing and Product Launches in the 2022 Just Drinks Excellence Awards.

The company enacted a number of projects in 2022 related to reducing environmental impact. This includes a campaign to raise consumer awareness about marine plastic pollution via a global ‘plastic fishing’ tournament fronted by the Corona brand arranged to mark Global Recycling Day. 

The company’s UK division is transitioning its diesel vehicle fleet in the country to lower-emission vegetable oil combustion systems; while its US division obtained ‘Climate Neutral’ certification for the Next extension of flagship brand Bud Light.

Elsewhere the company worked with water treatment firm Cambrian Innovation to reduce the water intake at its soon-to-open brewery in Texas by 10% through the use of Cambrian’s ‘BlueCycle MBR’ process uses aerobic digestion and membrane filtration to remove contaminates from water, thereby allowing reuse.

In regards to social initiatives the company launched ‘The Drop Artois,’ an NFT charity art project from Stella Artois that will raise funds for not-for-profit organisation Water.org. The initiative consists of 1,024 water-themed NFTs hosted for purchase on the Art Blocks digital art sales platform. 

The company’s Goose Island Brewery also entered the NFT space  to mark the 30th birthday of its Bourbon County Stout beer launching The Barrel House Collection 1,992 ‘Select’ NFTs, 29 ‘Reserve’ NFTs and one ‘24K Gold’ NFT.

The company also expanded its business in various areas including bringing the virtual and physical environments together in Latin America through a partnership with developer Riot Games. The arrangement, which focuses on the markets of Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Mexico, centres around ‘Cooldown’, a platform that assists on-premise operators with holding viewing parties for e-sports participants and viewers. 

The company also completed the construction of a production facility in Putian, in China’s Fujian province, which it claims is Asia’s largest “craft beer” brewery, and invested US$154m on a glass recycling facility in the southern Brazilian state of Paraná for its Ambev division.

Finally it was again a busy area in terms of product launches with the company bringing the likes of Stella Artois Unfiltered, Corona Tropical and Michelob Ultra Organic Seltzer Essential Collection to the market.
