Thai authorities have performed a u-turn over plans to include energy drinks alongside alcohol in an upcoming ban on day-time advertising on TV and radio.
Originally both energy drinks and alcoholic beverages were covered by a ban on advertising between 5.00am and 10.00pm which was announced last week.
Energy drinks and coffee however must still adhere to restrictions which mean they cannot be advertised in a way that “exaggerates the drinks’ quality”.
Reports said the government considered the new law too confusing if energy drinks were included too.
