US distilling group MGP Ingredients is rebranding and changing its name to Sempreon as part of plans to bring its three business units “under one identity”.

In a statement, the business said the brand change “will represent the next chapter for a company shaped by the legacies of MGP Ingredients, Luxco and the many businesses, brands and teams that have joined the organization over time”.

Based in Kansas, the group distills bulks spirts for other brand owners and also has a portfolio of owned brands, which include Penelope Bourbon and Rebel.

Its operations sit across three business units: Branded Spirits, Distilling Solutions and Ingredient Solutions.

The group’s new name comes into effect on 2 November, when its Nasdaq symbol will also switch to CASK.

Julie Francis, the president and CEO of MGP Ingredients said: “Sempreon is the next chapter for a company that’s been building toward this for years.”

She added: “Since 1941, we’ve grown from a single distillery into a business spanning Branded Spirits, Distilling Solutions and Ingredient Solutions. This name brings all three of our businesses under one identity. As we enter this exciting new era, our strategy remains grounded in focus, disciplined execution and accountability.”

The move comes ahead of the spirits business’ third quarter results for its 2026 financial year, which it is due to report on 28 October.

MGP said the Sempreon name “reflects the company’s strong foundations, heritage and history, while looking ahead to its future legacy it will build”.

Matias Bentel, the chief marketing officer of MGP Ingredients added: “Becoming Sempreon is about bringing our businesses together under a shared identity while honoring the legacy that built them. We’re carrying that legacy forward through the names of our distilleries, including MGP and Lux Row, while looking ahead to what’s next.”

Last month, MGP launched its first namesake brand: MGP Chapter One: Out of the Shadows, a Bourbon distilled at the group’s site in Lawrenceburg in Indiana.

Bentel then told Just Drinks the move to re-establish the MGP name “reflects a broader moment for the distillery as it steps out from behind the scenes” and does not change the “distillery’s commitment to its existing partners”.

In July, the company hired a clutch of industry veterans in a bid to “accelerate growth”.

MGP then said the move aims to “strengthen its commercial and marketing excellence” in the Distilling Solutions and Branded Spirits divisions, as well as “the company as a whole”.

In its second quarter results, also published in July, group sales were down 15% at $124.4m in its second quarter.

Gross profit dropped 20% to $46.5m while adjusted EBITDA declined 23% to $27.6m on the same period in 2025. Net income was down at $12m in the quarter versus $14.4m the previous year.
