Wine brands being snapped up in the deal include Thomas Allen, as well as Hook or Crook Cellars, Provenance Vineyards, and Fortitude by Provenance.
It also brings Red Phoenix, Samuel Lindsay Wines, Landing 63, Weekday Wines and the canned vodka cocktails brand Weekday Water under the Kautz family’s control.
The acquired portfolio features Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignons and California varietals ranging from Chardonnay to red blends.
The Kautz family told Just Drinks, the brands will widen its distribution across the US and create fresh opportunities in both domestic and overseas markets.
“With our vineyard holdings and our production capacity bringing in a new portfolio with recognised brands will help us grow our business, as well as use our own supply of wines,” the family said.
The Kautzes also plans to pursue new importers.
“Our family’s longstanding relationship with Allan Lombardi and his team will help ensure a seamless transition for customers and partners,” Joan Kautz, head of global sales and marketing for Ironstone Vineyards said in a press release. “We see tremendous potential to build on each brand’s strengths and expand their reach.”
The Kautz family have previously supplied Thomas Allen with wines. They own more than 7,000 acres of vineyards in the Lodi and Sierra Foothills appellations.
The nine brands are distributed across most of the US, the family said. They added that global distribution was “limited”, mainly in Asia and Canada.
“We export to around 50 countries worldwide, so are looking forward to expanding the distribution of these new ranges,” the family said.
Founded in 1988, Ironstone Vineyards is part of Kautz Family Vineyards, which is owned by the Kautz family. Following the transaction, the new brands will also sit under Kautz Family Vineyards.
The family produces its wines out of two Northern California sites: Bear Creek Winery in Lodi and Ironstone Vineyards in Murphys.
Its Ironstone Reserve range, as well as Kautz & Kramer and Devil’s Fog are the main brands produced at the Ironstone Winery in Murphys.
