US Tequila producer Casa Azul Spirits has promoted its chief financial officer Paul Stacey to lead the business as president.

Stacey takes the reins from Dennis Carr who stepped down as CEO in March after more than two years at the helm. He has since moved on to an executive role at Cobblestone Brands’ US business.

When asked by Just Drinks whether the president position was replacing the CEO role, Casa Azul said: “The company’s leadership structure remains centered around the president role, held by Paul Stacey, who is focused on leading day-to-day operations and supporting the company’s next phase of growth.”

In a statement on the appointment, the group added that under the president position, Stacey would “continue to accelerate brand reach, build market presence and further solidify Casa Azul Orgánico as a leader in the premium Tequila category”.

Founded in 2022, Los Angeles-headquartered Casa Azul Spirits produces a range of añejo, blanco and reponsado Tequila variants under the Casa Azul Orgánico name.

“Paul is a proven strategic leader who has been instrumental to our success,” said Lance Collins, founder and chairman of Casa Azul Spirits. “As we scale the business and expand our footprint, his ability to pair financial discipline with operational execution makes him the perfect person to guide Casa Azul into its next chapter.”

Casa Azul’s Tequilas are produced in Jalisco, Mexico, at the La Roca distillery.

Production of Casa Azul’s Tequilas moved last year to La Roca from the Las Américas distillery, also in Jalisco. Both distilleries were founded by the Montes family.

Reflecting on the appointment, Stacey said: “I’m excited to step into this role as president at such a pivotal time for Casa Azul.

“We have built a strong foundation across the business and I look forward to working with the team to strengthen our operations, support continued expansion and build on the momentum behind the brand.”
