The Japanese brewer Asahi Breweries is to acquire a 19% equity stake in a wind power-based electricity generation company, the company has said. The purchase will take place later this month.
The wind company, Green Power Aso Co, is currently wholly-owned by the semigovernmental Electric Power Development Co, or J-Power.
An Asahi Breweries official said, “Our company wants to contribute to promoting the spread of wind power generation systems whose operations do not involve generating carbon dioxide.”
